Report on the Workplace Experience Program

Vocational Service Committee Chair 和田佳久

For three days starting August 30, we provided a workplace experience program to two second-year students from Shinjuku City Ochiai Daini Junior High School. For the first two days they were hosted at Tokyo FAIRWAY Law Office, a legal professional corporation that I head, and on the final day at Tokyo Metropolitan Tax Accountant Corporation, headed by Member 北岡.
The students not only learned about the work of lawyers and tax accountants, but also experienced part of that work themselves and toured the court, the Legal Affairs Bureau and other facilities.
Our club has hosted workplace experience students before, but the burden fell on particular members. This time, however, the Vocational Service Committee took the lead and carried out the program with the participation and cooperation of as many members as possible. Specifically, Member 深山 arranged the court visit, Member 横山 the Legal Affairs Bureau tour, Member 吉村 an on-site real estate inspection, Member 渡辺 played the victim in a mock legal consultation (some thought he was playing the culprit, but he was strictly the victim!), and Member 北岡 handled the entire third-day program. I believe we were able to put “Vocational Service for the next generation” into practice as a club activity.
With this report, I would like to express my deep gratitude to everyone who cooperated.
