Urologist, M.D., Ph.D.
Born in 1960. Graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, the University of Tokyo. Licensed to practice medicine in both Japan and the U.S., trained in urology, nephrology, molecular biology
and clinical oncology.
After working at the University of Tokyo Hospital, Parkland Memorial Hospital in the U.S., the National Cancer Center Hospital and elsewhere, became Chief Professor at Teikyo University School of Medicine in 2003,
and Chief Professor at Juntendo University Graduate School of Medicine in 2012.
While performing high-precision urological surgery using the da Vinci robot, has introduced an interdisciplinary approach to men’s health
medicine.
Also one of the leaders of anti-aging medicine in Japan.
Serves as team leader in “XPRIZE Healthspan,” a global platform for clinical trials on rejuvenation.

In recent years, technology has been established to measure an individual’s “genetic age (biological clock)” from how genes are used and their state, and basic research has shown that “rejuvenation”—turning back the biological clock by improving the blood environment and other factors—is possible. Worldwide, huge sums are being invested in rejuvenation research through companies such as Altos Labs and Retro Biosciences and through the “XPRIZE Healthspan” competition, and the Japan Longevity Consortium (JLC), led by the author and colleagues, has been selected among the world’s top 17. The essence of aging is “the loss of degrees of freedom,” and youth is “flexible adaptability.” The JLC has developed “Scientific Zen (diet, fasting, exercise, meditation and human bonds),” a program that scientifically implements the lifestyle of Zen monks, whose mortality is far lower than that of the general population. This lifestyle intervention has been shown to make cognitive, motor and immune functions five years younger in two months.
Longevity used to be a matter of chance, but we are now entering the era of “Innovative Longevity,” in which the genetic clock is used to predict health and to plan
rejuvenation. Through the spirit of service and rich social relationships,
it becomes possible to create a healthy, long life that is autonomous and free.
