Visit to Futaba Infant Home
2025–26 Community Service Committee
Chair 村山 晃一
On June 26, we visited Futaba Infant Home, which we support on an ongoing basis.
This time we were given a tour of the facility and heard about changes since our last visit. In recent years, the number of children taken into temporary care due to circumstances such as a parent's hospitalization or
medical treatment has increased significantly, shifting the focus of the facility's operations,
we were told.
On the other hand, recruiting nurses has become even more difficult than before, and we heard that even when positions are advertised,
few applicants come forward. Facility tours, which had been suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic, have resumed, and a gathering space for local families raising children
also continues to operate. Donations from our club are being put to steady use in the children's daily care,
and we will continue our ongoing support.
