5. Meeting summary
This Fireside Meeting was the first in 10 years at which I, 栂野, served as group leader. The theme was Vocational Service, one of the Five Avenues of Service, which I personally think is the hardest one to get a lively discussion going about.
So I prepared several discussion points in case the conversation stalled, but time flew by on the very first point: “Are Community Service and Vocational Service different?”

The gist: any profession for which one is paid serves society in some way, so how, then, does Vocational Service differ from Community Service?
Opinion A ⇒ Vocational Service is benefiting society through one's own profession; activities carried out outside of it are Community Service.
Opinion B ⇒ Vocational Service is increasing the transparency and public nature of one's profession through the Four-Way Test.

Many views were shared, centered on these two similar yet distinct opinions. In the end, we concluded that this debate is hard to settle — to be continued!
