We held a Fireside Meeting on the theme of “Membership Growth,” and through everyone's lively input we discussed how we should pursue membership growth going forward.
In particular, everyone shared a variety of opinions on how open meetings should be run, which I report below.

• Few of the people who have attended our open meetings so far have gone on to join.
• To some extent, open meetings have served as a way for people who have already decided to join to get a feel for our meetings.
• Why not change the format of open meetings? For example, instead of a regular talk, how about explaining the service activities our club has carried out?
• How about showing a club introduction video and centering the meeting on presentations?
• Service such as our support for Futaba Infant Home and the Mt. Fuji clean-up should resonate even with people unfamiliar with Rotary clubs, and some will surely support it. We want to increase the number of such people.

Beyond this, we heard many different stories from everyone, making it a very meaningful Fireside Meeting. This was my first time as group leader, and I sincerely apologize that the proceedings did not go smoothly.
Thank you, everyone.
