2月13日、今期第一回目のファイアサイドミーティングを開催しました。今回のテーマである、「当クラブの奉仕活動について思うこと」に対して、議論を深めることができました。
The meeting began with greetings from President 伊豆. Being able to share food and drinks and converse with the club president in such a relaxed setting was, I believe, a very good opportunity, especially for newer members.
Before starting the discussion, all participants introduced themselves again. In these self-introductions, rather than simply stating their line of business, everyone explained what they particularly excel at within their field. This helped the participants understand one another even better.
本題の議論の冒頭、佐原親睦委員長から、我がクラブが過去に行ってきた代表的な奉仕活動、また、最近の奉仕活動の具体例について説明があり、ミーティング参加者に対して、再認識を促すといった啓蒙活動もでき、議論を活発化させることができました。
議論を通じてわかったことは、ロータリークラブの価値は、単に社会的ステータスや経済的ステータスが近い仲間が集まって、ストレス無くお付き合いができるということだけではなく、自分たちの社会的なパワー、経済的なパワーを利用して、数々の社会奉仕活動を実践し、社会に貢献することを人生の大きな価値と位置付ける人たち
の集合体であるということでした。
In the second half, with drinks flowing, we deepened fellowship among members in a very warm atmosphere.
This Fireside Meeting was a valuable opportunity to enhance the value of our club. To the members of the Fellowship Committee, thank you for your efforts in planning and running it. We are deeply grateful.
