President 内川 晃一
Hello, everyone. I am 内川晃一, appointed as the 39th President this year. I look forward to working with you over the coming year. I joined in July 2009, at the age of 49, introduced by member 平将明. Seventeen years have passed since then, and I am now 66. Over these 17 years I have met many people and had many valuable experiences. I am grateful to Rotary and to all of you for these encounters.
This year, as President, with the cooperation of Secretary 笹川 and all of you, I hope to contribute, however modestly, to the club’s development. I feel the weight of this responsibility.
This year’s theme is “Hearts Leap in Shintoshin — Let’s Create Activities to Remember!” What does belonging to a Rotary club mean to each of you? Isn’t it that there is fellowship and service, friends who share the same aspirations, and that it is enjoyable, which is why we continue? That is how I have felt for 17 years. However, if it is only enjoyable, a Rotary club has no reason to exist and becomes just a social club. We need to deepen fellowship through service and feel a sense of purpose, fulfillment, achievement and satisfaction. I chose this theme hoping that we will take part in activities with a heart-leaping sense of excitement, and make this a year that remains in our hearts and memories—one that leaves us fulfilled and satisfied, so that we can say, “It was hard work, but it was fun, wasn’t it?”
I will do my best to make it such a year. Thank you very much.
Secretary 笹川 敏幸
I am 笹川敏幸, and I will serve as Secretary this year under President 内川晃一.Keeping in mind this year’s theme set by President 内川, “Hearts Leap in Shintoshin — Let’s Create Activities to Remember!”, I will work to create an environment in which members can take on various activities with excitement and truly feel their hearts leap through service. As Secretary, I will firmly support each committee’s activities and give my full support behind the scenes so that the club as a whole runs smoothly.This year, while deepening our fellowship, I will do my utmost to make it a wonderful year—busy but enjoyable and meaningful—that will remain deeply in everyone’s memory.
